Garba symbolizes the womb and the cyclic nature of life.
The dance is circular, representing the cycle of life, birth, and death, which aligns with Hindu philosophy about the eternal nature of existence
The lamp or lantern (called Garbo) represents life, and dancing around it signifies the divine presence in everything
The light is a metaphor for knowledge and the triumph of good over evil
It is a celebration of the feminine energy, Shakti, embodied by the goddess Durga
Through the dance, devotees express their devotion and channel their energy toward the goddess
Traditionally, Garba is performed in a circle, which symbolizes equality and unity, as everyone dances in harmony regardless of their background
This also reflects the cosmic circle, where everything is connected and moves in unison with the rhythm of the universe.
